The Air
The Air Up There
At Sayan we know well the effect the Altai Mountains have on the formative process of 100% pure shilajit. Our lab results even prove it. Indian Ayurvedic practitioners also know the secrets of this region and have been visiting it for thousands of years to pluck the gooey balm from the rocks of this unique mountain range.
So, what is it about these mountains that make it such a prime region for generating this prized substance that takes multiple millenniums to form?
Mostly, it has to do with three factors: clean environment, elevation, and temperature.
A clean, untouched environment makes a big difference. The Altai Mountains are known to some around the world as the “Green Pharmacy of the Earth” because its pristine, unpolluted air and toxin-free ecosystem are ideal reproductive grounds for many types of plant matter.
Also, the purest shilajit forms at altitudes ranging between 14,500 and 16,000 feet above sea level, making the Altai Mountains ideal elevation with its highest peak at 14,783 feet. The pressure from the weight of the mountains at this high elevation, combined with the extreme temperature changes between winter and summer, allows the plant matter to decay over time and form into mineral-rich shilajit.
